Last night was the second night of the month-long fireworks festival. Better still, we had fireworks to our right, and heat lighting to our left – mother nature’s way of mocking our pathetic little light show, perhaps. Meanwhile, the clouds would occasionally part just above the fireworks to display the almost-full-moon, supervising the display.
But really, coming from a small city, these displays aren’t pathetic; they’re totally awesome and long and exciting. And the fact we’ve been able to just wander for 10 minutes and get an awesome view. Or to bike for 10 and be right underneath them. That, to me, is totally amazing and special. All the more so since the expressway gets blocked off, and bikes, roller bladers, skateboarders and baby carriages take over. It’s always magical. Talk about going out with a bang!
